Letter from the Head - 5 February 2021
In this episode: Some great online learning, and new competitions!
Dear all,
It's been a very positive week.
I spent Tuesday afternoon driving around Gloucester, dropping off prizes to the seven students who were picked out of last week's raffle. To be entered, students need to complete every single lesson in the week to a high standard. This week, we had hundreds and hundreds of eligible students to choose from, and Mr Park drew the following winners:
Josh R (Year 7), Holly H (Year 8), Adam G (Year 9), Emily G (Year 10), Hellouise G (Year 11), Tom D (Year 12), Nicole B (Year 13)
Congratulations to those seven - gift bags will be delivered next week for them (and their families!) to enjoy! I've spent much of this week looking at the quality of student work being submitted, and the feedback which is being given on Google Classroom, and I've been super impressed by just how much work students are completing each day. It's incredibly heartening and means we'll be able to hit the ground running when we get back to school.
We've also got three new competitions launching today:
First of all, each week, we'll pick the student who has impressed us the most with their online work and we'll pay for their family to have a takeaway dinner as a thank you to the whole family for their support. I'm looking forward to announcing our first winner next week!
Second, with the weather improving and the day's getting lighter, now's a great time to get outside, so our next House Competition is a walking/jogging/cycling challenge. Students just need to upload a screenshot of their step count to show how far they've travelled. At the end of the competition, the House with the most steps will not only win House Points, but we'll be donating to a charity of their choice too.
And third, this week's Fun Friday is a musical theme. We want students to send us their videos playing along to music using whatever household items they can find. We'll be sharing the best efforts on our Instagram.
You can see all of these announcements - along with other news and the first round of Staff University Challenge - on Episode 3 of Good Morning HP - do have a watch with your family!
Have a great weekend,
Mr Farmbrough
