Holmleigh Park High School

GCSE Success at Holmleigh Park

There were smiles at Holmleigh Park today as students collected their GCSE results.

There were double celebrations for twins Michal and Mikolaj Hajdas after both achieved excellent marks across the board, including grade 9s in Maths, Further Maths, and a double grade 9 in Science. Both students are staying at Holmleigh Park for Sixth Form to study Maths, Further Maths, and Physics. Mikolaj said: “I’m ecstatic and my results are even better than I had hoped. It’s been a good two years - I quite enjoyed online learning, and now I’m going on to study the subjects I love. Thank you to our teachers for making sure we were very well prepared. Michal echoed his brother’s thoughts adding: “I’m over the moon and can’t wait to start Sixth Form. We were really well prepared - the school is so much better since it became Holmleigh Park.”

Dylan Bick’s GCSEs included four grade 8s, enabling him to start his A Levels in English, Maths and Criminology this September. Dylan said: “It’s amazing and I’m glad that all of our hard work has been worth it. The teachers have really pushed us to be the best we can be.”

Harrison Moxham and Caitlin Monkman were also delighted with their marks, including a slew of grade 8s and 9s. They both commented on the spirit within the year group, with Caitlin saying “my friends have really got me through this year, and I’m so pleased with my results.” Harrison added his thoughts saying “I wouldn’t have got my results without my friends and our Year 11 teachers.”

Caitlin Stokes is planning to study Biology, Geography and Environmental Science after achieving excellent results across all of her subjects. She said: "I worked really hard this year so I’m very happy! I’m excited to see where Sixth Form takes me. The teachers have been amazing - they have all been so kind and helpful this year.”

Patrick Farmbrough joined as Headteacher two years ago when the school was relaunched as Holmleigh Park, and has seen the students through the two years of their GCSE courses.

Commenting on the students’ achievements, he said: “I’m incredibly proud of this cohort. They’ve faced so much uncertainty in the past two years, but they have shown absolutely incredible resilience to take online learning in their stride and keep working incredibly hard until the last day of term. They’re the first cohort to do both years of their GCSEs as part of Holmleigh Park, and they have set an incredibly high standard for our other students to meet, and I’m delighted that so many of them are staying with us Sixth Form; Year 12 looks set to be the biggest Sixth Form cohort in our school’s history.

All of us at Holmleigh Park wish every single one of them the very best for the future. They absolutely deserve their success today and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for all of them”.
