Dear HP families,
It has been another fantastic week at HP, and I am pleased to share some highlights from the past few days.
First, huge congratulations to all houses for their continued commitment to charity fundraising this year. The generosity of students, staff, and families is making a real difference, and I am pleased to share the updated totals: Javelin has raised £198.88 for James Hopkins Trust, Hurricane has raised £238.34 for Family Haven, Meteor has raised £214.45 for The Spring Centre, and Typhoon has raised £206.25 for Night Stop - Juliet's Purse. This brings our school-wide total to £857.92 so far. Well done to everyone involved!
A particular mention goes to our Year 9 students, who have worked incredibly hard during their Rank Order Assessments this week. Their dedication and focus have been impressive , and I look forward to seeing the results of their efforts.
Year 11 mock exams begin next week, and I know all students are ready to apply themselves fully to the process. I have seen firsthand how hard they have been working in Science and Maths lessons this week, and I know they will give their best effort.
Meanwhile, Year 12 students have been receiving feedback on their mock exams, helping them to understand their next steps and refine their study strategies for the months ahead.
Our Ten Tors students took part in their first major training session last weekend, heading to the rugged moorlands of Llanbedr in Wales. They braved wet and windy conditions to develop key navigational skills, such as using a compass, pacing distances, and reading contour lines. It was great to see our students collaborating with others from across GLT, particularly the four students who completed the longer Silver-level 45-mile training alongside peers from Yate, Henley Bank, and Five Acres. Their teamwork and resilience were inspirational.
Another fantastic opportunity this week was the Year 10 Drama trip to see Blood Brothers in Aylesbury. This was an invaluable experience for our students, bringing their classroom learning to life and helping to deepen their understanding of the play. I am sure they found it both enjoyable and educational.
Finally, I want to emphasise the importance of attendance. We expect every student to aim for at least 95% attendance. Please check your child’s attendance regularly on MCAS and reach out to their Head of Year if you have any concerns.
I wish you all a lovely weekend,
Mr Hudson
