Letter from the Head – Friday 4th April 2025
In this issue: Success in a regional photography competition, an exciting Young Carers trip, competitive House sport, impressive student leadership, upcoming HP Hero Club rewards, and ongoing focus on attendance.
Dear HP families,
Firstly, congratulations to Caitlyn, Dougal, Jan, Lily Mae, Zac and Zara, who have all had successful entries into the Young Gloucestershire Photographer of the Year competition. We are extremely proud of them and look forward to seeing how their work progresses.
This week also saw our Young Carers enjoy a well-deserved trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park. These students play an incredibly important role at home, and it was fantastic for them to have a chance to enjoy time together in such a special setting.
Meanwhile, House sport matches have been taking place for Years 7 to 10. These events have been extremely competitive, with brilliant skill and sportsmanship on display. It’s been fantastic to hear students discussing their performances and cheering on their Houses around HP.
I also had the pleasure this week of hearing from both our Eco Council and Student Council representatives. They delivered incredibly articulate presentations, outlining the changes they would like to help lead. Their ideas were thoughtful, well researched, and delivered with real poise and confidence. I was hugely impressed by the time and care they had put into their work.
Next Friday will be the end-of-term reward session for members of the HP Hero Club. To attend, pupils will need to hand back their hero badge. If your child has lost their badge and would still like to attend, replacements can be purchased via MCAS.
Finally, a reminder about attendance, which remains our top priority. We expect students to aim for 95% attendance or higher across the academic year, as this has a direct impact on their happiness and success. Parent Survey responses suggest 32% of parents are not familiar with the HP Hero Club. Please do ask your child about it—we want every family to understand its value. Being in the HP Hero Club will genuinely improve your child’s outcomes. Please also regularly check attendance on MCAS and contact your child’s Head of Year with any concerns.
I wish you all a lovely weekend,
Mr Hudson
