Holmleigh Park High School

GCSE results 2024

Students at Holmleigh Park are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE Results. There have been increases in the number of students gaining both Grade 4s and Grade 5s in English and Maths, whilst the Attainment 8, which measures student’s performance in their eight best subjects, has also increased. These increases have led to Holmleigh Park students successfully moving on to their post-16 options of choice.

Pheo O’Hara achieved Grade 9s in Maths, Chemistry and Physics, which are the subjects she intends to study at A Level. She said “I feel so relieved and happy. I made sure that I was always in lessons and completed all of my homework. I would recommend to young students to always be aware of your weak spots in your subjects and then be prepared to improve them.” Pheo is hoping for a future in Pharmacology after Sixth Form.

Two of the top achieving boys were Ryan Bird and Darius Ignat. Ryan achieved Grade 9s in French, Maths and Science, alongside Grade 8s in English Literature and Textiles and a Distinction* in Catering. Darius achieved Grade 9s in Biology, Chemistry, French with Grade 8s in English Language, English Literature, Geography, Maths and Physics and a Distinction* in IT.

Fran Dyde achieved Grade 9s in English Literature, Media Studies and Science and Grade 8s in English Language, History and Maths. She said “I am shocked but also so pleased. I was particularly happy with Science and Maths results because they are the subjects that I want to take at A Level. It has shown me the importance of always believing in yourself and applying yourself.” After Sixth Form, Fran intends to apply to Medical School through the Army.

Olivia Possee achieved Grade 9s in Biology and French alongside Grade 8s in Chemistry, English Language, Geography, Maths and Physics. She is looking forward to starting her A Levels and said "I am really happy and worked really hard for this. I kept a clear revision schedule and I would advise any younger students to do the same when they do their GCSEs."

Jason Kenna described the moment of opening his results envelope as being "cathartic - my results were beyond my expectations and it was overwhelming. I am pleased with how much I improved throughout the year by being very disciplined with my revision."

Commenting on the results, Headteacher Dan Hudson concluded: “We are very proud of our Year 11 students who are collecting their results today having worked hard and taken responsibility for their successes. It is also testament to the dedication of our staff and the incredible support given to us by our families. We wish them all the very best for their exciting next steps.”
