Holmleigh Park High School

Sixth Form Results 2023

Students at Holmleigh Park were celebrating today after receiving their Sixth Form Results.

Top achiever and House Captain Jacob Smith achieved three A*s in Maths, Further Maths, and Physics and is now heading to Warwick University, where he is particularly looking forward to exploring Mathematics in more detail. Reflecting on the last two years, he commented “routine is key - I would come into school early each day and stay after school to get my work done. It’s important to spread the work over the two years and not just leave it to the last minute.” He also advised students to “make the most of the teachers - they are very friendly and approachable and will always do what they can to help.”

Also celebrating was Nellie Singo, who achieved A, B, B in Chemistry, Maths and Physics - despite having joined the school in just February! She is now off to read Radiography at Glasgow. Nellie said “I was very relieved as I didn’t think I would get the grades I needed. I’m now excited to move to Scotland for studying. I’d like to thank the teachers for how helpful they have been in condensing the whole course into a few months for me.”

There was similar success for vocational students, with Will Heard securing Distinction*, Distinction* Distinction in his Extended Diploma in Sports Studies - which will see him heading on to Gloucestershire University to study Sports coaching and Physical Education. Will echoed the importance of having a routine, saying “I got myself into a rhythm of coursework and revision, and couldn’t believe how quickly the time flew. I’m very excited about studying at Gloucestershire University and enjoying their facilities, and I’d like to thank all of the PE teachers at Holmleigh Park for pushing all of us to achieve our full potential.”

Commenting on the results, Headteacher Patrick Farmbrough concluded: “We’re very proud of all of the students receiving their results today. This cohort have faced more disruption than any other from COVID-19, and I’m delighted that so many have done so well today, and very grateful to all of our staff for helping them along the way. We all wish them the very best.”
