Letter from the Head - Friday 12th July

In this issue: Highlights from our first ever Activities Week, including exciting themed projects for each year group and exhilarating trips for all.

Dear HP families,

I am delighted to share with you the incredible success of our first ever Activities Week. This week has been filled with enriching experiences and memorable moments for our students.

Year 7 embraced the theme of "Our Planet," where they delved into sustainability and the natural world. They learnt about the importance of protecting our environment and explored various ways to have a positive impact.

Year 8 focused on "Independence," gaining essential first aid and survival skills. They also participated in team-building activities, strengthening their collaboration and problem-solving abilities.

Year 9 engaged in diverse "Culture Case Studies," from understanding the Francophonie movement to simulating the role of UN crisis responders. This exposure to global perspectives has broadened their understanding of different cultures and international cooperation.

Year 10 looked ahead to the "Digital Future," where they tackled codebreaking, discovered binary systems, and designed bases for a potential colony on Mars. They also showcased their entrepreneurial spirit by participating in a Dragon’s Den-style pitch.

Throughout the week, our students had numerous opportunities to practice their oracy skills, enhancing their confidence and communication abilities.

Year 7 and 8 students enjoyed an adventurous trip to Go Ape, where they tackled high rope challenges with enthusiasm and bravery. Year 9 and 10 students experienced an array of water-based activities at South Cerney lakes, demonstrating teamwork and resilience. Year 12 students went to the Drayton Manor theme park on Thursday, where great fun was had by all.

Today, the whole school came together to watch a fantastic medley from our recent Matilda performance, showcasing the incredible talent and hard work of our students.

I am immensely proud of all our students for their resilience and the new skills they have developed this week. A huge thank you to our dedicated staff for organising such a brilliant and engaging week.

I wish you all a lovely weekend,

Mr Hudson
