Holmleigh Park High School

Letter from the Head - Friday 14th March 2025

In this issue: Celebrating the success of Year 11 practical exams, ongoing assessments for Year 10 and Year 13, a fantastic university visit for Year 9, impressive sports performances across multiple year groups and a visit from education leaders to see our strong culture.

Dear HP families,

Our Year 11 students have continued to impress with their Catering, Art, and Photography exams over the past fortnight. Their hard work and commitment have been evident and we are incredibly proud of their efforts. A huge thank you to the staff who have supported them throughout this demanding period.

Meanwhile, Year 10 Rank Order Assessments and Year 13 mocks have been ongoing this week. These assessments provide valuable insights into students’ progress. Well done to all students for their focus and determination.

Year 9 students had the opportunity to visit the University of Gloucestershire as part of the GROWS programme, which brings together Gloucestershire’s universities and colleges to inspire students about higher education. It was a fantastic experience, and students represented HP brilliantly.

On the sports front, our Year 11 boys’ football team secured a hard-fought victory against Severn Vale in a competitive match played in great spirit. A special mention to Dean, who delivered a Man of the Match performance by scoring the winning goal. The Year 7 boys’ football team also enjoyed a fixture against Churchdown, gaining valuable match experience. Additionally, our Year 9 and Year 10 netball teams secured two fantastic wins against Churchdown this week – well done to all involved!

This week, we welcomed visitors from other multi-academy trusts and the University of Bristol, who came to see the outstanding work we are doing around student culture and behaviour systems. Our approach, based on consistency, routine, warmth and strong student-staff relationships, continues to make a positive impact, and it was fantastic to share our practice with colleagues from across the sector.

A reminder that our next INSET day is on Friday 21st March and students will not be in school on this day.

Finally, our focus on attendance remains a top priority. We expect a minimum of 95% attendance, as this is a key benchmark for happiness and success in school. Please check your child’s attendance regularly on MCAS and contact their Head of Year if you have any concerns.

I wish you all a lovely weekend,

Mr Hudson
Headteacher
