Holmleigh Park High School

Letter from the Head - Friday 27th September 2024

In this issue: Our new 100% attendance raffles, Duke of Edinburgh Silver expedition and an excellent start to our extracurricular clubs.

Dear HP families,

Attendance

As you all know, attendance is our number one priority this year at HP. We have set a target of 95% or higher attendance for all students as this has been shown to be a key predictor of both happiness and success in school. To support this, starting this Monday, we introduced a new initiative—our weekly attendance raffles. These raffles will take place across all year groups, with every student who achieves 100% attendance between Monday and Friday being entered for the chance to win some fantastic prizes. We are looking forward to celebrating our first round of winners next week!

Open Evening Success and Additional Open Mornings

Following the overwhelming success of our recent Open Evening, we have seen an exceptional demand for our ‘HP In Action Tours.’ In fact, all available slots are now fully booked until October half-term, which is a fantastic response. We want to ensure that no family misses out on the opportunity to visit and see our wonderful community in action, so due to popular demand, we are pleased to announce that we will be scheduling additional Open Morning for prospective families. More details on this extra session will follow soon.

Duke of Edinburgh Silver Expedition

Over the weekend, our Duke of Edinburgh Silver expedition team embarked on their journey, and I am delighted to report that all participating HP students passed with flying colours. Ms Austin, who led the group, has spoken very highly of their resilience, teamwork, and positive attitude throughout the expedition. They not only successfully completed the demanding tasks but also represented the HP community with great pride. This is a remarkable achievement, and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of them. Well done to all!

Extracurricular Success

We’ve also had an excellent start to our extracurricular clubs this week, with impressive turnouts across the board. It’s fantastic to see so many students engaging with our wide range of activities, and we are confident that this involvement will enrich their overall experience at HP. A particular highlight was the superb performance of our Senior Rugby Team, who secured a comprehensive victory against Churchdown on Wednesday afternoon. It was a brilliant match, and our students showed great skill throughout. Congratulations to the team!

Sixth Form Assessments

Lastly, our Year 12 and 13 students have been diligently working on their first set of Monthly Assessments for the academic year. These assessments are an important opportunity for students to reflect on their progress and identify areas for further development. We have been impressed by their focus and commitment, and we are confident that these efforts will set the tone for a successful year ahead in the Sixth Form.

Thank you all for your continued support. We are off to a fantastic start this term, and I look forward to sharing more successes with you in the coming weeks.

I wish you all a lovely weekend,

Mr Hudson
