Letter from the Head - Friday 28th March 2025

In this issue: We launch our parent, student, and staff surveys, celebrate the success of our Year 11 boys’ football team, reflect on an exciting netball weekend for Year 8 and 9, highlight the debate club’s visit to Parliament, and share an important attendance update.

Dear HP families,

Over the next two weeks, we will be issuing our parent, student, and staff surveys. These are a vital part of ensuring that everyone’s voice is heard as we strategically plan for the next academic year. The parent survey is linked in the Letter from the Head email, and we would greatly appreciate it if you could take a few moments to complete it before Friday 11th April. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us continue to develop HP for the benefit of all our students.

A huge congratulations to the Year 11 boys’ football team who play for Tuffley Rovers Y16s. They have secured the league title with two games to spare, remaining undefeated all season. This is an incredible achievement, and we are extremely proud of their dedication and hard work.

Last weekend, our Year 8 and Year 9 netball teams had a fantastic experience at PGL, immersing themselves in a weekend of netball and adventure. All four teams displayed impressive skill, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout the competition. Off the court, they tackled the high ropes challenge, with many stepping out of their comfort zones and showing great resilience. The girls represented HP brilliantly, receiving praise for their positive attitudes and kindness. A special congratulations to both Year 8 teams, who finished 3rd in their pools. Well done to everyone involved for making it such a memorable weekend and thank you Mrs Sharples, Mrs Adams and Miss Martin for their work in facilitating it.

The debate club enjoyed a fantastic trip to Parliament, where they had the opportunity to tour the House of Commons and the House of Lords, as well as watch live debates. The day ended with an engaging workshop and a meeting with our local MP. Every student found the experience inspiring and is already looking forward to returning next year.

Finally, our weekly attendance update. Attendance remains our number one priority this year at HP. We expect all students to maintain at least 95% attendance, as this is a key benchmark for happiness and success in school. Year 10 were the most improved year group in the school last week, so well done collectively to them for taking responsibility. Please check your child’s attendance regularly on MCAS and contact their Head of Year if you have any concerns.

I wish you all a lovely weekend,

Mr Hudson
