Letter from the Head – Friday 4th October 2024
In this issue: Celebrating a fantastic first month back, a French A Level trip, Student Council elections, Prefect interviews, an additional Open Morning, sports fixtures, and an attendance update.
Dear HP families,
We’ve had a brilliant first month back, and I am incredibly impressed with the dedication HP students are showing in their lessons. The level of engagement and focus across all year groups has been outstanding, and this strong start is a great sign for the year ahead.
This week, our French A Level students visited Gloucester Guildhall to watch The Count of Monte Cristo. This trip supported their language acquisition skills and provided valuable cultural insights. It was a fantastic opportunity, and I’m pleased to hear how well our students represented HP.
We also held Student Council elections this week. The Student Council plays a crucial role in ensuring that the voices of our young people are heard and contribute to shaping decisions at HP. We will announce the successful candidates next week. In addition, next week brings Year 12 Prefect interviews—another important leadership opportunity for students to develop responsibility and play a key role in the life of HP.
Due to popular demand, we have scheduled an additional Open Morning for prospective families on Tuesday 15th October. This is an excellent opportunity for families to learn more about HP, and I encourage you to share this date with anyone who may be interested. Tour slots can be booked here.
In sports, both our boys' and girls' football and rugby teams have had fixtures this week. We’re proud of the effort and teamwork shown by our students, and we look forward to seeing continued success as the season progresses.
Finally, a reminder that attendance is our top priority this year. We expect an attendance rate of 95% or higher, as this is a key predictor of both happiness and success at HP. This week, we held our 100% attendance raffles for Years 7-11. Congratulations to our Year 11 winners: Eva, Meg, Lilly, Stanley, and Alfie. Please continue to check your child’s attendance regularly on the MyChildAtSchool (MCAS) platform and contact their Head of Year if you have any concerns.
I wish you all a lovely weekend,
Mr Hudson
