Letter from the Head – Friday 5th July
In this issue: Advance warning of early finishes on the next two Fridays, the importance of attendance, Activities Week details, a recap of our Matilda performances, successful induction days for Years 6 and 12, and Year 9's Geography field trips.
Dear HP families,
I hope this letter finds you well. We have had an exciting week at HP and I am pleased to share some highlights and important information with you.
First, please note that on both Friday 12th July and Friday 19th July, all students will finish school at 1pm. Friday 19th July is the last day of the academic year with Monday 22nd July being an INSET day.
Attendance is a crucial aspect of your child's success and enjoyment at HP. A consistent attendance rate of 95% or higher significantly enhances their learning experience and academic performance. We must all prioritise attendance to ensure the best outcomes for the students. From September, our message to every student is we need them to be here, every day, ready and on time. We will be having our biggest ever whole school focus on attendance in the next academic year because we want all of our students to experience the fantastic educational offer available to them at HP.
Next week, we are thrilled to begin Activities Week starting on Monday. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage in a variety of enriching activities and trips. Please refer to the detailed letter sent by Miss Browning earlier in the week for all the information you need to know.
This week, we were treated to three spectacular performances of "Matilda." The show was a delight to watch, showcasing the immense talent of our dancers, singers, and actors. A huge thank you to all the staff and students involved in making these performances such a success. I was extremely proud of everyone involved when I watched last night's finale and it is certainly such a wonderful opportunity for our students to have. Because of this, we will have a whole school rendition of some of the musical's hit songs next Friday as part of Activities Week.
We also welcomed future students during our Year 6 and Year 12 induction days. These events were a great success, helping new students feel at home and excited about joining the HP community. All of our new students acquired themselves very well, whether it was their introduction to HP itself or to our Sixth Form centre. Our new Year 6 students have also had the opportunity to attend evening sessions at Ninja Warrior in Gloucester, so that they can get to know all the students in their new houses.
Lastly, our Year 9 students enjoyed their Geography field trips to Lyme Regis. These trips provided valuable hands-on learning experiences in a beautiful and educational setting.
I wish you all a lovely weekend,
Mr Hudson
